Now, y’all know I hold a special place in my heart (and my liver) for Tequila Casa Dragones. After all, the Maison’s small-batch, artisanal, handcrafted, ultra-premium, 100% Blue Agave sipping tequilas have been the official spirits of ShulmanSays for more than a decade. And, not for nothing, founder Bertha González Nieves, in addition to being the world’s first certified Maestra Tequilera, is pretty much my spirit animal.
Earlier this summer, the Maison teamed up with longtime friend, acclaimed mixologist José Luis León—whose potent potables have earned Mexico City’s Licoreria Limantour its rankings of #32 on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2024 and #9 on North America’s 50 Best Bars 2025—to do a trio of residencies in Europe to disseminate modern Mexico’s vibrant spirit at some of the Continent’s most iconic locales through the artistry of Mexican mixology.
First was Paris, where the team set up shop at Bar Les Ambassadeurs inside the tony Hôtel de Crillon—a longtime Paris fave, thanks to its attentive staff and its prime location at the foot of the Champs-Élysées, on the picturesque Place de la Concorde—where José Luis crafted an array of elegant cocktails befitting the posh venue.
Next on this Mexican magical mystery tour was a bop to Sexy Tacos, overlooking Monaco’s Larvotto Plage. Here, northeast of Monte Carlo, in the Monégasque ward of Larvotto/Bas Moulins (a mere stone’s throw from the Roccabella high-rise residence of Dame Shirley Bassey!), José Luis debuted two new cocktails, the Mango con Chile and the Mediterranean Margarita (featuring Casa Dragones Blanco, bergamot, limoncello, grapefruit, ginger, and lime).
The final stop for José Luis and the team from Casa Dragones was the swanky Bar am Wasser in Zurich, where—among the parquet wood floors, upholstered cerulean velvet chairs and banquettes, multi-tiered chandeliers, and an assemblage of floating cocktail shakers—José Luis presented two more cocktails, the herb-forward Hierba de Mercado (featuring Casa Dragones Blanco and Aperol) and the fresh Clerico de Primavera (featuring Casa Dragones Blanco, green melon juice, and Fino sherry).
Now, if you’re reading this, and you’re a Las Vegan, you’re probably thinking, “I love Casa Dragones as much as the next fella, but I’m not in Europe, so what’s any of this gotta do with me?”
I’m so glad you asked, because from September 12-14, Tequila Casa Dragones is once again teaming up with José Luis, and this time the party is gonna go down, up in Allē Lounge on 66, the stunning aerie at Resorts World Las Vegas with sweeping views of The Strip and Las Vegas Valley. There, you’ll be able to enjoy a curated menu of signature cocktails that highlight José Luis’ modern approach to Mexican mixology, along with live cocktail demonstrations, interactive tastings, and intimate conversations about the craft behind the pour.
And since I highly recommend eating during such occasions [if for no other reason than the last time I attended a Casa Dragones tasting, it was at La Casa Dragones (the Maison’s HQ in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico) and I got completely schnockered, much to the amusement of my hosts and fellow guests], I encourage you to enjoy the selection of passed bites that’s been inspired by the flavors of Mexico and specifically designed by the Allē culinary team to complement José Luis’ tequila-centric creations.
But wait… There’s more! Instead of limiting their RWLV experience to Allē on 66, José Luis and Casa Dragones will be going big, with four venues across the resort, each pairing with a different one of Casa Dragones’ four expressions. So, from Friday through Sunday, September 12-14, you can also imbibe as follows:
Salucita, y’all!
