It’s awards season, in Hollywood; so you just know that the next couple of weeks are gonna be very pressed at my favorite disco-moderne, Giorgio’s at the Standard Hollywood. There, every Saturday night, tucked inside the sassily named Mmhmm; Bryan Rabin and DJ Adam XII provide the cognoscenti and the glitterati an escape from the paparazzi, where they can dance their troubles away.

Now, it bears saying that Adam needs no help in structuring a set. His are perfection (check-out the DJ Adam 12 page on SoundCloud.com for a selection of his live sets), and I would never deign to disturb a discaire of Adam’s caliber, with some trifling list of random requests. However, as a friend (and a fellow disco devotée), I figured that I wouldn’t be out of line were I to merely plant some seeds… Then – should any take-root and blossom – huzzah!

So, here (listed according to their placement in the collage, above; clockwise from top left) is an octet of gorgeous songs, from the genre I refer to as “Glamour Disco”:

  1. “Yes Sir, I Can Boogie” by Baccara

  2. “Everybody Dance” by Chic

  3. “Stars” by Sylvester

  4. “Doctor Love” by First Choice

  5. “Hot Shot” by Karen Young

  6. “No One Gets The Prize” by Diana Ross

  7. “Pick Me Up, I’ll Dance” by Melba Moore

  8. “Supernature” by Cerrone
