The weather outside might not be frightful, per se; but that doesn’t mean that the magical elves at Wynn Design and Development haven’t been toiling night and day, transforming the atriums surrounding Main Registration, at this desert oasis of luxury, into an indubitably delightful Wynn-ter wonderland – all under the watchful gaze of WDD’s Roger Thomas (EVP) and Alex Woogmaster (Creative Director).  This dynamic duo of design conceived of a quintet of miniature Christmas villages, inspired by the more whimsical elements of Johnathan Swift’s 1726 political satire, Travels into Several Remote Nations in the World.  In Four Parts.  By Lemuel Gulliver, First a Surgeon, and then a Captain of Several Ships (better known as Gulliver’s Travels).

Created in winter white with plenty of gold, each village comes with its own unique magical story, corresponding to experiences found at Wynn and Encore Las Vegas; with this poem to connect them all:

Parallel worlds that lie just out of sight,
Need only a portal to bring them to light.
Let Wynn be your gateway for a magical spree,
Through lands of great whimsy, sparkle and glee.

First is the Village of Plips (a bustling cathedral town, pictured in Slides 4 and 5, above), encouraging guests to enjoy some sweets and an espresso, at the Drugstore Café, or a dessert whipped-up by one of the talented pastry chef, in Wynn’s restaurants.  Next is the Village of Waggywach (a Mildendoan suburb), that hints at the romance, mystery, and danger inspired by a performance of the recently revamped aquatic production, Le Reve – The Dream. After sweets and a show, it only makes sense that you’d be down for dinner and clubbing, so the Village of Mildendo (the Lilleputian capital) touts an exhilarating evening that included dinner at Andrea’s followed by a late-night visit to Intrigue.  It sure wouldn’t be Las Vegas without a lure to play in the casino, thus the Village of Blefuscu (capital of the island of the same name) hopes its royals endow Wynn’s live-action players with their blessings. And finally, there’s the Village of Moluccus (named for the islands past which Captain Gulliver sailed), shedding a light on the paired-properties’ collection of art, and encouraging guests to visit the Concierge for a complimentary art-tour brochure.

The snowy dreamscape continues through the vignettes displayed in the retail windows throughout the properties.  There’s an enchanted winter forest theme that pervades the windows along the Encore Esplanade – featuring designs by Carolina Herrera and Rene Caovilla, Marchesa and Manolo Blahnik, and Badgley Mischka and Rene Caovilla (respectively, as pictured, in Slide 2, above); and Badgley Mischka and Rene Caovilla, and Vicedomini, as well as Sugarfina’s confectionary snowman made entirely from candy (respectively, as pictured, in Slide 3, above).

Perhaps my favorite vignette is that in the main resort window (as pictured, in Slide 1, above), across from the casino floor, where a trio of mannequins is ice-fishing in eveningwear from Wynn Collection, while seated on furnishings from Wynn LVNV.  But the cleverest part is what’s going on, beneath the ice; where a number of aquatic-themed Judith Leiber minaudières make for eye-catchingly bedazzled fish, including the catch-of-the-day (which, to my eye, is Leiber’s Bekko Koi Fish).

And for those of you wondering whether there would be another jaw-dropping sculpture of gingerbread gracing The Buffet, fear not; for Wynn’s Master Cake Artist, Flora Aghababyan, has created yet another masterpiece (as pictured, in Slide 7, above) – a 360 degree display, featuring Wynn Las Vegas adjacent to a large mountain upon which Santa, his sleigh, a slew of presents, a parade of penguins, and The Grinch are all arranged, with a moving train chugs around the base and through a tunnel.  Aghababyan’s creation involved 35 pounds of gingerbread, 30 pounds of fondant, and 25 pounds of chocolate.  Mmmmmm!

All of these incredible decorations will be on display, throughout the property, for guests to enjoy, through the first week of January.
