I like a scenic vista as much as the next fellow, but at the end of the day, there’s nothing I like more than a comfy bed, nice sheets, a big TV, good air-conditioning, and a strong shower.  So, it was an absolute delight to have spent a weekend, not so long ago, in the 3-Bedroom Suite with Kitchen, at The Landing – Lake Tahoe’s only 5-star boutique lakeside resort.

Sharing the nearly 900 square foot abode (completed in December 2013) with two of my favorite ladies, Amy Sacco and Gingi Beltran; the three of us—in town for a wedding reception—hosted pajama jammie-jams, for a select group of friends, three nights in a row.

Thanks to such swanky amenities as a trio of stone gas fireplaces, a comfy living room, an outdoor smoking verandah with a view of the forest, a posh kitchen, four 55” LG flat-screen LCD televisions, lots (and lots) of wine, a pair of Keurig coffee makers, plenty of Fiji water, and pitchers of iced tea (courtesy of room service) – the suite, that we dubbed Sh’Amy/Chez Me/Shame-y, cozily hosted denizens of the worlds of art, design, hospitality, and culture.

As for those of us actually sleeping, in the suite, we each had our own room with a pillow-top bed, sateen sheets, goose down pillows and comforters; as well as yummy terry robes, bathrooms with heated marble floors and light-up heated toilet seats, and walk-in Euro rain-showers.

The service was convivial, and the room service from Jimmy’s was fresh, Greek, and yummy (I especially enjoyed the Greek Salad and the Jimmy’s Burger on Brioche Bun).  And would I stay there, again, and take advantage of The Landing’s nouveau rustic hospitality?  Abs-and-pecs-olutely!
