Even though the mercury has risen into the triple digits, it’s still springtime, here, in Las Vegas; and the musical residency shows are serving things up, hot and fresh, up and down the Strip.  Following is a taste of what’s coming in the next couple of weeks for your concert-going pleasure.

ANITA BAKER: The Return to Las Vegas
The Venetian Theatre | The Venetian Resort Las Vegas
May 20, 21, 25, 28, and 29; June 1, 3, and 4 | 8pm

In the radio format known as “Quiet Storm,” few artists shined as brightly as Anita Baker.  Now, as an addendum to her blockbuster farewell tour, the 8x GRAMMY-winning singer/songwriter returns to Las Vegas one last time for an eight-night limited engagement at The Venetian Theatre inside The Venetian Resort Las Vegas.  I attended Baker’s stop at The Venetian, on her original (pre-COVID) farewell tour, back in 2019, and I’m here to tell you that if you’re a fan of soulful, smooth jazz with dynamic vocals, Anita Baker’s performance is not to be missed.

KATY PERRY: PLAY
Resorts World Theatre | Resorts World Las Vegas
May 27, 28, and 29; June 03, 04, 08, 10, and 11 | 8pm

Global superstar Katy Perry invites you to PLAY, her Las Vegas residency.  This is the residency show you KatyCats have been waiting for, and it will not disappoint.  With incredible sets, eye-popping costumes, and overflowing with all the Katy Perry goodness you can imagine, this all-ages show is a treat for parents and kids, alike.  Whether she’s being spun around on an enormous beer can singing “Walking on Air,” or performing “Roar” with showgirls in an homage to classic Las Vegas reviews, Perry delivers.  Bonus, the Resorts World Theatre might have the most courteous staff of any live music venue on the Strip.

JONAS BROTHERS: Live in Vegas
Dolby Live | Park MGM
June 3, 4, 9, 10, and 11 | 8pm

Following the massive success of their REMEMBER THIS Tour—a 44-date run across the US that sold over a half-million tickets and topped Pollstar’s “2021 Year-End: Top 100 Tours” chart, as one of the year’s highest-grossing tours—the Jonas Brothers are returning to Las Vegas with Jonas Brothers: Live in Vegas, an exclusive five-night residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM that will run over the first two weekends in June.  Whether you prefer their time as Disney hitmakers in the aughts, or the decidedly more grown-up and slickly produced songs, like the JoBros' 2019 comeback hit “Sucker” (the band’s first #1 song, was the first song by a group to debut at #1 on the Billboard Top 100 chart, this century), this is gonna be one memorable show.

BOY GEORGE & CULTURE CLUB: Hello Vegas!
Encore Theater | Wynn Las Vegas
June 03 and 04 | 8pm

Over the past 40 years, GRAMMY-winning band, Culture Club—the name is a reference to the UK band’s multi-ethnic makeup, including a cross-dressing Irish singer, a black-Briton bass player, a Jewish drummer, and an ethnic English lead guitarist and keyboard player—has sold over 100 million singles and 50 million albums, worldwide.   One of the biggest bands from the UK to ever hit the US, Culture Club’s catalogue of new-wave pop and reggae-infused soul includes such hits as “Karma Chameleon,” “Miss Me Blind,” “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me,” and the soaring ballad, “Victims;” and changed perceptions forever in music, fashion, and art.  Now, Culture Club’s Mikey Craig, Roy Hay, and Boy George, together with a 13-piece band, bring their inimitable sounds to the intimate Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas

STING: My Songs
The Colosseum | Caesars Palace
June 3, 4, 8, 10, 11, 15, 17, and 18 | 8pm

Sting’s Las Vegas residency, My Songs, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, features a collection of the 17x GRAMMY-winning musician’s most beloved songs with dynamic, visual references to some of his inspirations and most iconic videos. Come for the chart-topping singles he penned during his time as front-man of the post-punk, new wave band, The Police (“Roxanne,” “Message In A Bottle,” “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” “Every Breath You Take”), and stay for his solo hits (“If You Love Somebody Set Them Free,” “We’ll Be Together,” “Fields of Gold,” If I Ever Lose My Faith in You,” “Brand New Day,” and “Desert Rose”).  And don’t miss the brand-new songs from Sting’s new album, The Bridge.
