In addition to being globally and multi-generationally renowned as a brilliant award-winning musician, performer, philanthropist, and songwriter, Sir Elton John is a well-known collector, though that word doesn't seem to do what he does justice.  Whether photography, fine art, jewelry, watches, costumes, clothing, furniture, or décor and objets d’art, it’s no secret that his appetite for acquisition is voracious.  So, when he sold the massive 13,332-sqft condo—itself a collection of six different condos in the Park Place building in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood—in which he’d resided for more than thirty years, having used it as his US base while touring; he decided to keep the things he couldn’t live without and put the rest up for auction. *

This is nothing new for the six-time Grammy-winner, who auctioned off roughly 2,000 pieces of art, jewelry, and memorabilia from Woodside (his Windsor estate), in 1988, and 400 pieces of furniture and décor from his home in London’s Holland Park area, in 2003; both residences he still maintains.

The 920 lots that comprise The Collection of Sir Elton John: Goodbye Peachtree Road auction—ranging from a Baroque-style wig from John’s 1986 Tour de Force tour in Australia (with an estimate of $200-400) to Banksy’s 2017 Flower Thrower Triptych (with an estimate of $1,000,000-1,500,000)—have been arranged by Christie’s New York into eight separate auctions, some which will be live, while others will be online.

What follows are sixteen lots—of the 200 featuring jewelry by designers including Asprey & Co., Barry Kieselstein-Cord, Bulgari, Cartier, Chanel, Chopard, David Yurman, De Beers, DeGrisogono, Gianni Versace, Gucci, Hermes, Jade Jagger for Garrard & Co., Loree Rodkin, Louis Vuitton, Oscar Heyman & Brothers, Reposi, Stephen Webster, Theo Fennell, Theodoros, Tom Ford, Van Cleef & Arpels—on which I’m keeping an eye (whether for myself or someone else) arranged in order by the slide upon which they appear in the slideshow, above.  I’d love to hear your thoughts.  Enjoy!
