Now, we all know that restaurateur Elizabeth Blau loves to entertain, because, well, that’s what she does.  But were you aware that Elizabeth is a bit of a seder savant?  You see, I’m all about the memories, and one of my very favorite seder memories is of the Passover (I’m guessing around 2003, give or take) that Elizabeth invited my mother and me to join her and Chef Kerry Simon for seder at Simon Kitchen + Bar (way back when Simon’s namesake restaurant was at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino).  As I sit here, picturing it, I can recall sitting at the round table in the private dining room, surrounded by walls of slatted wood, in a race with my mom to see who could eat more of the incredible Blue Cheese Crackers Kerry had sent over.  From there, it’s just a kinetoscope-like flickering of images of food, friends, and a lot of laughter; and to my mind, that’s exactly the impression the holidays should leave.

So, when I found out that Honey Salt was preparing to roll-out their Passover Dinner To Go concept; I got on the horn to Elizabeth to commend her and find out what—besides a sharp business acumen and really knowing her customers—was behind this offering, and what it included.

As Elizabeth explained to me, “Two years ago, our world was such a different place.  We were in Jerusalem, for Cole’s Bar Mitzvah, and celebrated Passover in Israel. It was a magical experience and seems so far removed from the reality we all share today. But we are resilient, and we are thrilled to share our family recipes with the community, here in Las Vegas—even if we can only celebrate together, in cyberspace!”

But while the communal aspect will be abetted by technology, it’s very real food that Blau, her husband/partner Chef Kim Canteenwalla, and their team are preparing for you to enjoy with your loved ones.  Available from Wednesday, April 08 through Thursday, April 16 (for $130), Honey Salt’s Passover Dinner To Go feeds up to four people, and includes the following:

Whole Roasted Organic Chicken
with Lemon and Thyme Glaze

OR

Slow-Braised Brisket
with Rosemary and Red Wine Jus

WITH

Matzo Ball Soup
with Roasted Chicken, Carrots, Celery, and Dill

Potato Kugel
Gramma’s Recipe

Roasted Market Fresh Vegetables
with Herbs

Mashed Sweet Potatoes
with Sage and Brown Sugar

AND

Dark Chocolate Mousse
with Fresh Strawberries

Food and cooking, to Blau, serve as connections to her family and the traditions they’ve shared.  “My Grandma Rose was an amazing cook, and most of our treasured family recipes for the holidays came from her kitchen.  My mother always makes Grandma Rose’s brisket for Seder.”

Now, you can serve your family a delicious Passover Seder, without the normal muss and fuss that such an ordeal (I mean delightful experience) usually entails!  And while they’re available for pre-order, now; but they are limited in quantity.  So, make sure to reserve yours by emailing Manager@HoneySalt.com, and that you do so no later than Friday, April 03.
