Opening next month, on the first floor of the MGM Building in Beverly Hills (North Beverly Drive, between Dayton Way and Wilshire Boulevard) is the latest outpost of Hakkasan – the London-born, decidedly upmarket, contemporary Chinese eatery, that has taken its nouvelle twist on la cuisine chinoise (and the decidedly modern black-and-blue take on Chinoiserie that the Parisian firm of Gilles & Boissier have updated from Christian Liaigre’s iconic designs for the London original) on the road; following openings in Abu Dhabi, Doha, Dubai, Las Vegas, Miami, Mumbai, New York, and San Francisco.

Now, of course, Michelin-starred Chef Ho Chee Boon (who’s been with the company since its 2001 inception) is gonna serve all the Hakkasan faves you’ve come to love in your jet-setting ways, like Stir-Fry Black Pepper Beef Ribeye with Merlot and that delectable Crispy Duck Salad with Pomelo, Pomegranate, and Pine Nut. Additionally, as he is wont to do at all of the locations, Chef has created a number of dishes and scenes, exclusive to the Beverly Hills restaurant; including a late-running lunch that shall be served until 3pm, and a weekend brunch – both of which will feature upwards of two dozen varieties of the bite-sized, cart-served Cantonese fare we know as dim sum.

Similar in concept to the Las Vegas restaurant, lattice screens of dark woods and white marble will lend a sense of intimacy to patrons, allowing everyone the feeling of dining in a semi-private room.

It looks like, come September, there’s finally a legitimate cause for Mr. Chow to give pause. Qui vivre verra…
