BOLERO:  A slow, romantic Cuban song form that emerged from the late-19th-century ‘trova’ tradition, composed and performed by guitar-playing singer/songwriters known as trovadores; later developing into Mexican guitar trios, orchestral arrangements, nightclub performances, and the broader Latin American romantic ballad tradition.

Last month, Bolero – The Show debuted as a one-night-only performance at the Plaza Hotel & Casino in fabulous Downtown Las Vegas. It was so well received that the powers that be at the Plaza have brought it back for a six-show limited run on select Saturday nights, beginning August 1 and running through October 3, 2026, in the Plaza Showroom, among the last of the classic, old-school Las Vegas showrooms, complete with leather banquettes, crystal lighting sconces and chandeliers, and some live foliage, because why not?

Throughout the show—created by executive producer Adán Alejandro (who also happens to be the lead male vocalist)—audiences experience the rhythms and cultures that have shaped the development of Bolero, including Afro-Caribbean traditions, flamenco, samba, salsa, and other Latin musical expressions.

Think of Bolero – The Show as an elegant theatrical journey during which the audience gets to relive the Golden Age of Bolero.  Guided by a magnificent live orchestra led by musical director Adrian Ortega as well as expressive dancing choreographed and led by artistic director Enrique Lugo, these stories bring the music’s history to life through singing, storytelling, tango, flamenco, and lots of live percussive Latin music.

Instead of the narrative following the story of a character, Bolero tells the story of this captivating musical genre and the rich cultural influences that transformed it into one of Latin music’s most beloved forms; with each scene representing another chapter in that journey, culminating in a vibrant celebration of la cultura latina.

And while the curtain goes up at 7:30 PM, the doors open at 6 PM, so those who are so inclined can join the pre-show salsa lessons, and then put them to use after the show, when the venue transforms into Club Bolero, the exclusive afterparty, where you can dance the night away to a live DJ.  And it’s all included with the price of admission!
