Words to ponder at BS Saloon

Yesterday, Jacob and I flew-in to Austin, TX, where we are spending the week at my mom’s new house and checking-out this amazing town that she now calls “Home.”  (Actually, she lives just outside of Austin-proper, in the idyllic little 'burb of Lakeway...)

Austin is known for being a pool of blue in a sea of red, and has earned a reputation for incredible eats.  So, after consulting a couple friends and websites, I put together a restaurant itinerary that I sent to Jacob and Mom, which Jacob thought was rather funny because, as he said to a friend, “Michael made reservations at ten restaurants and we’re only there for four nights!”

Even the airport is great: It’s bright and airy and clean and has these fabulous oversized guitars on the baggage carousels.

Over the next few days, I’m gonna be schooling y’all on this fantastic city in the Texas Hill Country where there’s barbeque as far as the nose can smell, shiny Airstream Trailers on the side of the road selling tasty treats from Hey Cupcake!, and free-standing shoe hospitals.

Get into it, y'all!

Helmed by Chef Martin Heierling, PISCES BAR & SEAFARE—the utterly gorgeous new Mediterranean fish, seafood, and pasta restaurant at Wynn Las Vegas—is my new go-to for an elevated, joy-inducing dinner, including the happiest soup I’ve ever had!
