[Continued from Part 1]

And as much as I love gold, one of my favorite combinations – gold and lapis lazuli – is back on the scene, thanks to Katherine Jetter (who utilized the gold-specked blue stone in her “Cubed” collection), and Syna Jewels (who use it in a number of their collections); both of whom do incredible things with colored stones – especially opals.

With Wonder Woman finally having made her big-screen debut, collections from Victor Velyan and Todd Reed both featured pieces that are exactly what you’d imagine a modern-day Amazonian princess might wear, while she’s kicking ass and saving the world.  At the same time, K. Brunini Jewels and Elena Votsi gave us pieces that upon donning them, make you walk a little taller, and instinctively put your hand on your hip (or ball it into a fist).

Yvel’s Orna and Isaac Levy have not only built upon their successful “Rough Elegance” and “Satin Sea” collections of pearls, but have brought daughter, Chen, into the fold – reaching-out to younger clients, with her fresh designs.

Personalization is all the rage with Vicente Agor, whose Silhouette collection features a “dog tag” where you provide a photo of your four-legged friend (or child, if that’s your thing – I don’t judge), and Agor will hand-cut the silhouette into a pendant of 18k gold or sterling silver.  Show me cool, clever, and chic!

Likewise, over at AMEDEO, the Gen8 Neapolitan cameo-maker (who’s also the A.S. in Faraone Mennella by R.F.M.A.S.) is using techniques handed-down in his family in Torre de Greco, Italy – since the early 1800s, thank you – to hand-carve a cameo of your loved-one out of sardonyx shell or blue agate or lava; and set it in a ring or pendant or cuff or whathaveyou.  I did.  It was brilliant!  (#Sammydeo)

And what about those incredible, one-of-a-kind pieces that keep the whole business in motion?  I direct your attention to the wonderful worlds of Arunashi, Lydia Courteille, and Sevan Biçakçi (based in Beverly Hills, Paris, and Istanbul, respectively) – where creativity flows without boundaries, fantasy is de rigueur, the artistry is unparalleled, and the price – well, if you have to ask…
