Wolfgang Puck has done very well by Las Vegas; and (as my wide mid-section can attest) Las Vegas has done very well by Wolfgang Puck. So, when David Robins first told me about Sip & Savor – a way for the Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group to thank the citizens of their second home, Las Vegas – I was delighted to hop onboard.

With Puck on-hand, and the executive chefs and their teams from each of Puck’s half-dozen Las Vegas venues – Spago (Forum Shops at Caesars), CUT (Palazzo), Postrio Bar & Grill (Grand Canal Shoppes at Venetian), Wolfgang Puck Pizzeria & Cucina (The Shops at Crystals), Lupo (Mandalay Bay), and Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill (MGM Grand) – preparing signature victuals in which guests can partake in the dine-around/mix-and-mingle atmosphere into which Spago will be transformed, for the evening.

This is your chance to get up-close-and-personal with Puck and his talented team of chefs, sommeliers, pâtissiers, and more. Crowning the evening, Chef Puck will be honored by UNLVino, for both his culinary achievements, and his continuing charitable contributions to Las Vegas, with the presentation of the Dom Pérignon Award of Excellence.

And while General Admission is $225 per person; for an extra $50 you can attend as a VIP. What does that entail? Well, you get to come at 6pm (instead of 7pm), and get first crack at the food and wine, get to press-the-flesh with the chefs of Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group and the participating winemakers, get reserved seating, and you get a complimentary raffle ticket good for prizes.

The proceeds from the evening will benefit the hard-working students of the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at UNLV (lest you feared they were going to line Puck’s pockets…) – and if you, like the late Whitney Houston, believe that the children are our future, then this should make you feel all warm and fuzzy. Meanwhile, the fact that I have gotten to the age where I look at college students as “children” is more than a little depressing. Oh well – guess I better have some wine, and start putting-together the musical selections for the evening.
