As Fashion Director of Neiman Marcus, Ken Downing bebops around the world culling pieces and whatnots from the world’s greatest artisans and designers, and curates them into the collections sold at Neiman Marcus stores.   For Holiday 2013, Downing, has put together a collection of 38 gifts (ranging in price from $32 - $1,800), and called it the Ken Downing Gift Collection

What makes this collection so special? Through December 24th, ten percent of the sales of items from the Ken Downing Gift Collection will go to benefit a non-profit organization specializing in providing children with experiences.

Of course, it wouldn’t do for shoppers in Chicago to be throwing their hard-earned doubloons at the children of Southern Florida; so each store has selected their own philanthropy partner – and in Las Vegas, the recipient of this largesse is Nevada Ballet Theatre (specifically the education and outreach program, FutureDance).

The Ken Downing Gift Collection is made-up of items by Alexander McQueen, Alexander Wang, Alexis Bittar, Chanel, John Hardy, Jonathan Adler, Ippolita, Michael Kors, Mrs. John L. Strong, Stella McCartney, and Tom Ford Beauty, among others. There’s make-up, men’s furnishings, pajamas, outerwear, kid’s stuff, throw pillows and Murano glass.

So stroll into the store, sidle-up to the Ken Downing Gift Collection shop, and snatch-up those Charlotte Olympia Kitty Crystal-Eye Velvet Cat Slippers and some of Eddie Borgo’s Alternating Small-Cone Bracelets, knowing that ten percent of your purchase is going to enhance a child’s exposure to the arts.
