What do the Las Vegas locations  of specialty retailers Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue; shoemakers including Tod’s, Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Bally, Giuseppe Zanotti, and Christian Louboutin; leather goods purveyors Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, and Gucci; and the signature boutiques of such A-list designers as Chanel, Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana, Lanvin, Fendi, Balenciaga, Oscar de la Renta, Stella McCartney, Prada, and Versace have in common with the Strip-side spectaculars of Cirque du Soleil, Barry Manilow, Le Rêve, Phantom, Jubilee!, Jersey Boys, Blue Man Group, and Celine Dion?  They all pray religiously at the altar of Jerry Guederian, whose Shoe Lab is where all good shoes (and bags and belts and luggage and now furniture) go to be lovingly restored to their original splendor.

I first met Jerry, sometime in the late ‘90s.  Between my mother and me, we were constantly in need of a great shoe repair place – not just for scuffs, scratches and maintenance; but also for custom dying.  For instance, my mom found a particularly comfortable woven leather sandal at Bottega Veneta, but they only came in a cognac color.  So, she bought four pairs, and had me take three into Shoe Lab, along with a trio of Chanel purses, and before you could say “Shoes, glorious shoes!” Jerry had color-matched the sandals to each of the purses.  Now mom had her comfy Bottega sandals in cordovan, navy blue, and black – and she still enjoys wearing them, today (including the pair upon which Sammy noshed, that Jerry repaired so well, the damage is indiscernible).

Whenever Jacob would come home with a newfound “treasure” that has any issues, before making the item available for sale, he’d ask me to take it into Shoe Lab; and in a week or so, that beat-up bag has been restored to a pristine purse or a classy clutch.

Shoe Lab is so well thought-of within luggage-making circles (being a preferred shop for Tumi, Samsonite, Hartman, and Lark), that they are the go-to for most of the airlines that fly into McCarran International Airport when they’ve damaged a passenger’s valise.

Now, Jerry’s launched Furniture Lab and Upholstery Lab.  Whether it’s for your La-Z Boy recliner or your BBJ airliner, a cigarette burn on your sofa or a puncture in your leather banquette, Jerry’s team has got you covered (and refinished, and dyed, and blended).  They even offer pick-up and delivery service.

And for all of the international guests to our fair city, customer-service agents at Shoe Lab’s three locations speak an array of languages, including Spanish, Armenian, Hebrew, Greek, Arabic, and even English!
