Imagine, if you will, a speakeasy/bordello hybrid.  Furnish it in a style that can best be described by listing the various design aspects that seem incongruous yet fit together comfortably: Pan-Asian antiquities (i.e., Thai alters, Cambodian sculptures, a Chinese terracotta warrior, carvings from India, etc.), rococo furniture, Italian marble statuary and busts, pieces of retro Americana, and a slew of antique Welsh dressers, armoires vitrées, and curio cabinets, all on an overlapping network of Persian carpets.  Now, cleverly merchandise the whole kit-and-caboodle with the jewelry of Scott Kay.

And what is housed within all of that centuries-old cabinetry in this 5,000 square foot space, in New Jersey?  Welcome to SK66, where the best aspects of an exclusive jewelry showroom intertwine with the ideal invitation-only shopping experience, all centered-around the results of Scott Kay’s artistry (SK66 being the pairing of his initials and his birth month and day – June 6th).

“New Jersey?” I thought.  Other than when utilizing the airport in Newark, the last time I spent any time in the Garden State was when visiting two of the three beautiful Kisko sisters, in one of the Brunswicks, in 1995.  But SK66 is a mere 15 minutes from the George Washington Bridge.  Now, I know that most New Yorkers feel that reverse bridge-and-tunneling requires a visa and vaccinations, but lemme tell ya – SK66 is worth the short drive.

As president and curator of SK66, Kay’s stunning wife, Regina, designed the space (handily adjacent to their offices) and merchandised every display, utilizing the antique furnishings to house his jewelry designs.  Whether it’s a one-of-a-kind or never-before-released piece, or recently launched collection – it’s there.

And much like Scott Kay’s customers, nothing is uniform, and no two cases are the same.  Like the antiques from all over the world, the pervading vibe is that style is paramount, while fashion fades.

What’s more, SK66 is a sexy, sexy, sexy spot for your next soirée or private function.  I don’t know about you, but after viewing the gorgeous video shot by the fabu folks at Lifestyle Mirror (below), I think an absinthe party is called for, tout de suite!
