Nick Jonas is ¡en fuego!  Perhaps the most multi-media savvy of the three Jonas brothers, he’s starred on Broadway (taking over for Daniel Radcliffe, as J. Pierrepont Finch in the revival of How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying); he’s modelled (Wilhemina Models quickly signed him, upon hearing of his interest); and has a successful career as an actor, having co-starred as the golfing, gay, serial killer/fraternity brother, Boone Clemens; on Season 1 of Ryan Murphy’s Scream Queens.  He’s also been starring for three seasons, on DirectTV’s Kingdom, as Nate Kulina, a closeted, up-and-coming MMA fighter; and is starring opposite James Franco, in the fraternity hazing film, Goat (in theaters, next month).  Needless to say, these acting roles (all of which feature him shirtless and sweaty) have greatly endeared him to the LGBT community, as well as women of all ages.

Oh yeah.  He also sings a bit.  (Haha, just kidding.)  He identifies as a singer, and he happens to be fairly good at it.  Recently, after the Las Vegas stop on his Future Now Tour (that he’s co-headlining with Demi Lovato); he treated the crowd at Wynn Las Vegas’ Intrigue Nightclub to an intimate performance that was pretty off-the-chain crazy.  There were so many twenty-something girls who were roiled into an estrogen-soaked lather, that I was fairly convinced that (due to my proximity to Jonas, in VIP), I could possibly lose an eye to a pair of flying panties.*

I like the format that Intrigue has for its live performances.  The artist comes in, and does a bit on the step-and-repeat.  S/he is then escorted to the VIP area (on stage, behind the DJ); and, at 2am, the takes the stage, and performs a tight 15 – usually consisting of four songs.  Then, they hang-out with their peeps – sometimes in VIP, and sometimes in Intrigue’s Private Club (aka “The Living Room”).  This is an ideal arrangement, for me, as the Private Club is easily my favorite venue in town: It serves fantastic drinks, and crispy pizza; and has one of the most flattering lighting stories, anywhere (hat tip to Roger Thomas).

I was graciously afforded a few minutes with Jonas, and I’ve gotta say that he was very charming; (exponentially more so than I’d have been, at 1:55am, if I was in the middle of an huge tour, and was going onstage for the second time that night, in roughly 4 minutes).  We chatted briefly about a mutual friend of ours (songwriter Justin Tranter, who – with his writing partner, Julia Michaels – penned Jonas’ hit “Close”), and laughed over how I’d erroneously thought Tove Lo was a rapper.

His set included a quartet of his hits, including “Jealous,” “Chains,” “Levels,” and the previously mentioned “Close” (the last of which, you can watch, in part, in the attached video).

To close-out my night, I returned to the Private Club.  There, I danced to the particularly choice grooves provided by DJ Eddie McDonald; who manipulates the club’s all-vinyl format like a virtuoso.  Just a great night, all around!

[Editor’s Note: It turns-out I needn’t have worried; because apparently, nobody wears panties, anymore.]
