There are a few things that (rightly or wrongly) come to mind, when I think of summer in Maine – among them, L.L. Bean, preppies, an aversion to sock-wearing, fishermen, lighthouses, chowdah, beards, the Appalachian Trail, Republicans, and lobster.  Truthfully, though – mostly (and most fondly) it’s the about the lobster.  So, I’m pretty lucky, then, that David Walzog – Executive Chef, Lakeside at Wynn Las Vegas – has had the wonderful notion to present a “Lobster Supper” Menu; nightly, before sunset.                              

Inspired by the unique flavors and distinctive preparations of Maine lobster, Walzog is giving guests a veritable smorgasbord of Maine lobster goodness.  You can curate an array of your favorite dishes from the specialty menu; or, delight your palate with a three-course meal (which, at less than $75, is kind of a steal). 

A few of the appetizers that’ve struck my fancy include Chilled Maine Lobster Salad, a New England Lobster Roll, and Lobster Corn Chowder.  And the entrées?  Decide for yourself..!  There’s the Maine Lobster Bake (a summertime classic with steamed lobster, mussels, clams, sweet corn, and potatoes); the Surf n’ Turf (this twist on the popular standard pairs a broiled, chile-rubbed, half Maine lobster, with a charred beef tenderloin skewer); Broiled Maine Lobster Frites; and Lobster Mac n’ Cheese. 

And don’t think Chef Walzog has forgotten those of us with a sweet tooth (or 32).  If, by any chance, you’ve got room left for dessert, why not order yourself up a slice of pie?  Take your choice between Warm Blueberry and perennial fave, Boston Cream.

So, whether you’ve got the family in town, or a more intimate dinner for two, take the time to enjoy a Maine lobster dinner, à la Chef Walzog, at Lakeside, overlooking Wynn’s Lake of Dreams – for yet another reason why the Forbes Travel Guide has bestowed 4-Stars upon this acclaimed seafood restaurant.  In the vernacular of those from the Pine Tree State, it’s gonna be a wicked hum dingah!
