Kesha is something of a metaphor for this digital Insta-millennial generation.  In 2010 Billboard named Kesha (then Ke$ha) as their “Hot 100 Artist” and her hit debut single, “Tik Tok” as their “Hot 100 Song,” after the latter broke the US record for highest sales in a single week (610,000 downloads).  After nine weeks in the top spot, “Tik Tok” became the longest running number one by a female recording artist (breaking the previous record, set in 1977, by Debby Boone’s “You Light Up My Life”).  “Tik Tok” is currently ranked as the most-sold single by a female solo artist; and the second best-selling single in digital history.  That same year, she also won the award for “Best New Act” at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

Of course, she didn’t start-out as the warrior/performer Ke$ha, but rather as a successful songwriter, (my favorite of the works she penned – “Till the World Ends” that became a hit for Britney Spears).  After the success of “Tik Tok” and its album, Animal; she struck gold, again, in 2013 with “Timber” – a collaboration with Pitbull, that would go on to become Kesha’s eleventh Top 10 single, and her third to go all the way to number one.

She’s been rather ubiquitous, of late; what with her ongoing legal battles with producer Dr. Luke, who’d signed the then-18 year-old artist, a decade ago, to his Kemosabe Records label.  Upon having her entire complaint against Dr. Luke thrown-out of court, she performed the song “True Colors” (from Zedd’s second studio album) during Zedd’s slot at the 2016 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

So what’s all this got to do with the cost of tea in China?  Well, following on the heels of Seal’s successful live set at Intrigue, last month; Kesha has signed on to do live performances over a trio of dates, this summer (Thursday, June 23rd; Saturday, June 25th; and Saturday, July 23rd).  Now, I’m not a gambling man (which is kind of ironic, considering where I live); but if I had to wager a guess as to which of the three nights will be the most electric, I’d have to go with Saturday, June 25th.

“Why the 25th, Shulman?” you’re probably asking, right now; so I’ll tell you.   Her most recent song is actually a song by Zedd, upon which Kesha is featured.  So, taking into account that Zedd is a Wynn Social resident, I took a gander at my Calendar Page, and saw that Zedd is headlining at XS on the 25th of June.

Now, I’m not giving away any big secrets here; just speculating from the cheap seats.  But it wouldn’t surprise me in the least were Zedd to stroll over from Encore to Wynn, and pop into Intrigue to sprinkle a bit of his magic over the crowd, during Kesha’s set; before moseying back to Encore, and beginning his own set, at XS.  I mean, it might never happen; but here in the El-Vee, is it really so nuts to think that it’s entirely plausible?
