One of the interesting aspects of living la vida Vegas is that after a while, one day runs a little bit too smoothly into the next, and then one day you wake-up and realize that the only way you know the day of the week is by seeing what you Tivo recorded the night before.

To that end, it’s always nice to have fun little interludes, just to keep things exciting.  So, when I got a call from one of my fave Brits, Anne Vincent (Director, Special Events and Merchandising at Vogue), to help with an event, I was all too happy to oblige.  The concept was to put together a small, casual affair – a dozen ladies, including a hostess – to build brand awareness for the iconic Roman luxury house of Fendi, with a percentage of sales going to a local non-profit.  Easy peasy.  To riff on The Association, "Who's tripping down the streets of the city, smilin' at everybody she sees?  Who's reaching-out to capture a moment..?  Everyone knows it's Fendi!"

Fendi had decided that they wanted this event to be for the now generation.  Stylish, young ladies, who were familiar with Fendi as a brand, but perhaps didn’t know that Fendi Furs are among the most sought after in the world, or that the fur and ready-to-wear collections are designed by Karl Lagerfeld, who’s been collaborating with the five Fendi sisters and their children since the early '60s (nearly two decades longer than he has been designing for the legendary French couturier Chanel).

I reached-out to my girls, Lieuchi Fine and Lacy Schorr, who agreed to co-host the affair; after which we decided that Nathan Adelson Hospice would be a terrific organization to support.

The ladies arrived, Wednesday afternoon, and were lead to the back of the Fendi boutique, inside Crystals at CityCenter, handed a glass of Champagne or Pellegrino, and joined Lacy and Lieuchi, who looked so good in their Fendi finery, that the mannequins seemed to be pouting.  Looking fabulous while sipping their champers were Nancy Grounds, Kimberlee Hyp, Annemarie Jones, Lauren Lin, Dana Manacher, Barbara Silverberg (or as my nephew knows her, “Reuben’s mom”), Jessica Sporn, Judy Stone, and Lauren Wright.

We were all treated to a crash-course in Fendi’s history, after which the ladies caught-up with each other, kibitzed, and in a few cases, made new friends; whilst I took some pictures, then sat in a most unexpectedly comfortable chair and flipped through the pages.

Before I knew it, an hour and a half had come and gone.  The guests had gone and I couldn’t help but look at Lacy and Lieuchi, and giggle with the mental image of this pair of cool mommies showing-up at shul, to pick-up the kiddies, in their sorbet-colored Fendi dresses.  Back in reality, I thanked them both, smiling in the knowledge that some friends had a fun occasion to hang-out for some well-earned girl-time, that the client was pleased, and that a few bucks were raised for a very worthy cause – all of which made me a very happy Shulman, indeed.
