Independence Day in Las Vegas is really something to behold.  Sure, there are fireworks, and hot dogs, and the de rigueur margaritas-by-the-yard, for those perambulating on the Strip.  But step into the gilded walls of Wynn Las Vegas and Encore, and you’ll find that the roof-raising folks at Wynn Social have really put the pedal to the musical metal.

Worth noting, over this extended weekend, is a DJ-set by fashion’s inside-man, Virgil Abloh.  The creative director of streetwear collection Off-White (that just presented its FW16 collection, in Paris to very favorable reviews) is also known as Kanye West’s right-hand man and frequent collaborator.  Abloh is so well-regarded, in part, because he’s got an eye (and an ear, where music is involved) not just with what’s next, but with what’s come before.  Definitely check him out, if you can.

Then, the next night, over at Intrigue Nightclub, Jamaican vocalist Nyla, will be performing Major Lazer’s hit song, “Light It Up” – a Moombahton/dancehall jam released last November which featured her hard-hitting vocals (alongside those of Fuse ODG, in the remix).  Since Major Lazer is Diplo’s Jamaica-fied side-project (that also includes Walshy Fire and Jillionaire), and Diplo is himself performing around Encore over the course of the weekend (at Encore Beach Club on Thursday, and at XS on Monday night), there’s more than a passing chance that the Mad Decent producer might make an appearance at Intrigue, to support his artist.

As for the rest of the weekend, Wynn Social has packed the two-towered resort to the gills with their A-list roster of EDM giants, including Alesso, Dillon Francis, the aforementioned Diplo, Flosstradamus, Marshmello, Skrillex, and Zedd.
