The bougainvillea and persimmon hues of the sun, setting over Dubai.  The violet-tinged, bruise-like greys of a tropical storm, bearing down on Shanghai.  The silvery silhouettes of New York’s most legendary buildings, shimmering against the azure of a clear summer sky.   Beautiful imagery from glossy travel brochures?  Perhaps.  But don’t call your travel agent, just yet; because you can view them all, from the comfort of a cushy leather banquette, at VISTA Cocktail Lounge, at Caesars Palace – right here, on the Las Vegas Strip! 

Located in the space formerly occupied by Shadow Bar, the Rockwell Group-designed VISTA Cocktail Lounge takes a ground-floor setting and provides Observation Deck views; thanks to its central design feature – a quintet of portals (30 high-res LCD screens comprising four “windows,” as well as a “skylight” made up of LED panels) that display engaging panoramic views, of the world’s most breathtaking cityscapes.  The 35-foot bar is backed by a pair of these portals, divided by a column of custom sconces.  Furthermore, there’s a pair of intime nooks (one on each side of the bar) comprised of two other portals, each above a cozy banquette.  There’s even a curtain-effect given to the portals, through the use of ropes cleverly draped over the arched window frames and vertical grilles. 

Thanks to the dusky browns, reflective golds, and inky blacks of the rich appointments and fabrications; VISTA Cocktail Lounge evokes a sense of jet-set glamour, cosmopolitan modernity, and luxurious élan.

As to what I’m likely to be playing, I’ve been combing my archives (and iTunes), to amass an assemblage of delectable tunes, guaranteed to get the toes of even the most groove-deprived soul, a’tapping.  My only directives from on high (the powers that be, aka Messrs. Walker and Wise, from Hakkasan Group) – no swearing, and no “trash” disco.  So, you’re just as likely to shine bright like one of Rihanna’s “Diamonds” as you are to succumb to the “Controversy” of Prince.  Because when you’re living “The Glamorous Life” referred to by Sheila E. (after Madonna tells you her little “Secret”), just make sure that – instead of acting all fierce, like Vanity 6’s “Nasty Girl” – you channel P!nk and “Blow Me (One Last Kiss).”
