I’ve been harping about the fabulosity of FIZZ Las Vegas, since its soft-opening, last December. But it wasn’t until this past weekend that the Todd-Avery Lenahan/TAL Studio-designed Champagne lounge at Caesars Palace celebrated its Grand Opening.

Why the long wait? Well, this past weekend also marked the return of Sir Elton John’s show, The Million Dollar Piano, to The Colosseum at Caesars; and since Sir Elton’s birthday was last Wednesday, it just made sense, for all parties involved (owners Steve Kennedy and Michael Greco, creative director David Furnish, and designer Lenahan) to make sure the venue was running smoothly, then have Elton’s birthday party double as FIZZ’s VIP Grand Opening Celebration.

Closed to the public, the guest list included many of the fabulous/famous faces one sees at Furnish and John’s affairs – Jason Sellards and Scott Hoffman (aka Jake Shears and Babydaddy of the Scissor Sisters), Kelly and Sharon Osbourne, mega-producer Peter Asher, the legendary Quincy Jones, and the lovely Britt Ekland; as well as a celebrity potpourri from the worlds of sports (German soccer star Thomas Hitzlsperger), comedy (David Spade and Kevin Farley), film (Nicolas Cage), and music (Brandon Flowers of The Killers, The Band Perry).

Representing Las Vegas, were the aforementioned Messrs. Kennedy, Greco, and Lenahan, myself and statuesque beauty Lieuchi Fine, Sheryl and Rob Goldstein, Milo Miloscia and John Nelson (who was also celebrating his birthday, that night), Robin and Danny Greenspun, and Anna and Phil Auerbach

My favorite lines of the night were both delivered by our host, David Furnish. The first was to Lieuchi Fine – "How nice to meet you!  We've been admiring you and your fabulous style, all night."  The second was to me – "You better not let Elton see your pin: it's fabulous, and he might just snatch it, right off your lapel!” It was just that kind of evening…
