I've wondered what would come out of The Shops at Crystals attaining an LEED Gold Certification.  And now I know…  It’s an ideal place to host the fabulous eco- and socially-aware traveling pop-up shop, Maison de Mode.

Founded by Haitian-American designer Hassan Pierre (creative director of organic and sustainable luxury ready-to-wear brand WISB – Way It Should Be) and curated by editor and activist Amanda Hearst (whose Friends of Finn – named for her dog Finnegan – is devoted to saving the petits chiens from those horrible puppy-mills), Maison de Mode carries ready-to-wear, fine jewelry, and accessories from ethically-aware brands including Libertine, Muzungu Sisters, Kaya Design, Melissa X Karl Lagerfeld, Osklen, Edie Parker, and Bantu.

Some of my favorites include a very handy lemlem beach towel with leather carrying-halter; a fierce leather-wrapped pearl necklace by Spinelli Kilcollin; and Maiyet’s show-stopping 18kt yellow gold ‘Owl’ cuff, hand-crafted in Jaipur, India, and set with 30 carats of conflict-free full-cut Champagne diamonds.

Says Hassan Pierre, “I'm excited to bring Maison de Mode to Las Vegas because it allows us to further our mission of changing people's perceptions of ethical fashion on a much larger scale then we have ever done. Being at The Shops at Crystals is also exciting because we sit alongside major fashion bands giving us the attention and letting people know that our vision of luxury ethical fashion is luxury fashion.”  Well put, Hassan!

Located on the second floor of The Shops at Crystals (in the space formerly occupied by Assouline), Maison de Mode will be open through July 5th.
