Kerry Simon is a great guy. A lot of people know him as the good-looking, talented, charming chef behind such successful Vegas eateries as Simon Kitchen & Bar at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Simon Restaurant at Palms Place, and Kerry’s Gourmet Burgers (KGB) at Harrah’s. But years earlier, he had taken New York by storm, introducing the concept of the Chef’s Table (while at The Plaza’s famed Edwardian Room), and cooking for the fabulous folks who flocked to the tony Mercer Kitchen at the Mercer Hotel. His specialty (aside from the upscale fare, for which he gained acclaim, back East) – gourmet comfort food – to the delight of stoner foodies everywhere.

It’s no accident that Rolling Stone dubbed Simon the “rock n’ roll chef” – seeing as he’s a favorite of rockers ranging from the glitter of Alice Cooper to the Sunset Strip grit of Mötley Crüe and Guns n’ Roses.

Now, those hard-rocking fans are getting together for a night to raise monies and awareness for Multiple System Atrophy. A rare form of Parkinson’s disease, MSA brings the various systems of the body to a grinding halt; and owing to its rarity, there is neither a treatment nor a cure. This is the condition with which Chef Simon has become afflicted.

So, Kerry’s business partner, Elizabeth Blau, reached-out to some of the biggest names in the worlds of gastronomy and rock music, and they have banded together for a night celebrating Chef Simon and his fight. These celebrity chefs Daniel Bouloud, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Michael Mina, Rick Moonen, Charlie Palmer, Grant MacPherson, Kim Canteenwalla, Mark Tarbell, Justin Nilson, and Megan Romano are just the start; because after the silent auction, guests can experience a one-night only jam session featuring such rock greats as Alice Cooper, Slash, Vince Neil. Sammy Hagar, Todd Rundgren, and the Sin City Sinners.

So get out your checkbook, put on your dancing shoes and get ready to rock (and eat) – though not necessarily in that order. The party’s going down, this Thursday night, from 7-9pm, with a VIP reception at 6pm. And it’s gonna be a terrific night to fight a horrendous disease that has stricken a truly kind, gentle, and talented millennial man.
