I first heard about FIZZ Las Vegas, around this time, last year, from Michael Greco. “It’s gonna be great,” he told me. “Upscale, intimate, and elegant,” he continued, “Like a great glass of Champagne brought to life.”

Now, Las Vegans – those in the nightlife biz especially – are known for hyperbole (especially when talking about their own venue); but I’ve gotta hand it to Mr. Greco: FIZZ Las Vegas is exactly as described. And then some!

Greco and his Marvel Management & Marketing partner, Steven Kennedy (co-Owners), worked right alongside David Furnish (Creative Director) and Todd-Avery Lenahan of TAL Studio (Designer); and took the 2,750 square foot space, at Caesars Palace, in between the Forum Shops and the Colosseum, that was formerly occupied by Bernini (the shop was evicted after going more than a year without paying its $60,000/month lease), and in less than 90 days, transformed it into what is perhaps the chicest venue on the Strip.

Lenahan is one of the most talented designers in the country, and just happens to be based in our fair city. What impresses me the most about Lenahan’s work is the way his spaces utilize seemingly feminine touches in a way that suits men (or maybe they’re masculine touches that suit women…). Regardless, it’s a pretty neat trick.

The lighting story is flattering beyond belief; and the room is a study in ivory moiré leather, upholstered quilted-leather walls, and features such fanciful touches as a custom-designed wallpaper with microphones, 45s, and electric guitars; a door laser-etched with skulls; skull-shaped Lucite sconces; an oversized vanity by the backdoor (that leads in from the Green Room of the Colosseum); cognac-tinted mirrored accents, and supple round booths that comfortably accommodate up to ten people. Meanwhile, the staff is so downright good-looking, you’ve gotta wonder if they had to submit head-shots with their resumes!

And the art! Furnish carefully culled a number of photos from his and Sir Elton John’s legendary collection. Whether it’s a young Nina Simone, Amber Valletta with a French poodle for Gianni Versace, a series of coiled snakes, or David LaChappelle’s vision of Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson; their dazzling colors are set-off against the room’s neutral palate, to great effect.

There’s also an itsy-bitsy kitchen; just the right size for preparing the Madras Curry Chicken and Plantain Bites, Thai Lobster Summer Rolls, Muffaletta Paninis and other tasty victuals that are delivered to your table.

The perfect embodiment of the efforts Caesars has taken in the past few years (restoring, renovating, and refreshing the storied property to its perch among the best Las Vegas has to offer), FIZZ Las Vegas is like a fabulous glass of of the Dom Pérignon that's being poured there, on New Year's Eve – effervescent, seductive, exhilarating, and more than a little titillating.
