When I moved to New York, after college, Mesa Grill had already spent four years on many reviewers’ Top 10 lists, establishing Chef Bobby Flay as a major player in the culinary world. And, because of its reasonably priced fare (especially considering the level of gastronomy), I became a fast fan of Flay’s southwestern cuisine.

In the decades that followed, Flay’s empire has grown – thanks in great part to his amiable manner in front of the TV cameras (evoking more of New Orleans’ Irish Channel than New York’s Upper Eastside), and the gaming world’s never-ending hunger for marquee chefs – and while Mesa Grill’s original location closed its doors, last fall, the Mesa Grills in Las Vegas (Caesars Palace) and the Bahamas (The Cove at Atlantis) are serving their patrons Blue Corn Pancakes and Caramel Chocolate Pudding like they’re going out of style.

Now, Bobby Flay is back in Las Vegas, to open the 18th location of Bobby’s Burger Palace – Flay’s tribute to the burger joints he’d frequent, growing-up in the ‘60s and ‘70s.

Located beneath the Mandarin Oriental, facing the famed Las Vegas Strip, Bobby’s Burger Palace (or BBP as it’s referred to by Team Flay) is opening for business, this Wednesday, January 29th. Clark County Commissioner Mary Beth Scow and Chef Flay will be cutting the ceremonial ribbon, at 10am, followed by Mayor Caroline Goodman presenting Flay with the Key to the City.

Opening to the public at high noon, the menu will include all the fresh goodness you’ve come to love from Flay, as well as the new Vegas Burger – made with white American cheese, Fresno red chiles, and BBQ potato chips. Talk about zesty!
