It’s time, once again, for Keep Memory Alive’s annual Power of Love™ gala.  And as special as each of these magical nights has been; this year is especially exciting, as it’s the 20th such event, and is celebrating the 90th birthday of iconic crooner, Tony Bennett.

As any habitual Power of Love attendee could tell you, the invitation always contains three very familiar words; three words that have come to represent the very best in live music production – “Bill Edwards Presents.”

So much more than a concert producer, Edwards is a major philanthropist (he’s one of the ten largest donors to Keep Memory Alive).  And that’s amazing, but Edwards doesn’t stop with the writing of a check.  “He’s a great partner,” says KMA co-Founder, Camille Ruvo.  “I don’t know where our gala would be, without him.”

This year, Edwards – who works his magic out of a sheer love of music – is returning with one of the bright stars from last year’s Power of Love weekend; singer/songwriter Dan Orlando.

As those who were there – that Friday night, at the Keep Memory Alive Event Center – can attest, Orlando brought the house down; pairing his showmanship and exceptional vocal ability with his dazzling piano virtuosity, entertaining the likes of Quincy Jones, Gloria & Emilio Estefan, and Veronica & Andrea Bocelli.

Now, gala attendees will be in for a treat, as Edwards is bringing Orlando back to Las Vegas, for this year’s Power of Love, where he’ll be playing the “big room” – alongside such talented performers as trumpeting maestro, Chris Botti; Tony-winning late night darling, James Cordon; soul siren, Andra Day; jazz pioneer and Kennedy Center honoree, Herbie Hancock; Grammy-winner, Darius Rucker; iconic rock n’ roller, Steven Tyler; and, of course, the man of the evening, Tony Bennett.

I’ll be back, next week, with the inside scoop from this incredible benefit for Keep Memory Alive.  Founded twenty years ago, KMA serves to increase awareness and raise funds for the research, management, and treatment of brain disorders – with a focus on Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s, Parkinson’s, frontotemporal dementia, and multiple sclerosis – allowing the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health to provide excellent care, while respecting the dignity of its patients and their families.  And that’s something I’ll gladly get into, again and again.

In the meantime, I’ll leave you with the words of Camille Ruvo, who intoned “Thank God, for Bill Edwards!”
